Six-week Wood Engraving Course

Join David Robertson and Leonie Bradley for a weekly course running over six afternoons allowing you the time to build your confidence and skills. This course covers all the basics to get you started as a wood engraver and is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience. Our courses are unique as teaching is delivered by two experienced engravers with different approaches and styles.
The course covers:
· Choosing a suitable image – what makes a good engraving?
· Transferring image to block
· Engraving: different substrates and mark-making
· Tools and sharpening
· Inks
· Paper
· Printing: burnishing, Albion platen press and FAG proofing press
All materials are included with the option to purchase further blocks and tools if you wish to continue. You may borrow a tool and engrave at home between sessions to progress more quickly (two blocks are included in the course fees).
You don’t need to bring anything with you, but it’s helpful if you have some sketches, photos of ideas or other references. Once you book, we’ll send you an info pack with all the necessary details.
